Our abiltity to reproduce images from just about any graphic file is outstanding. However, here are some helpful hints to speed up production and avoid any extra cost for file conversion and image color correction.

> File Preparation Tips

•The best method is to send native files with a support folder containing all of the placed images. Do not embed raster images in Illustrator or Freehand.

•Avoid excessive rotating or and enlargments of images in page layout programs.

•Create documents at 100% of final output or if necessary as a direct proportion (ie 50%). Use a custom sized document rather than placed crop marks inside an artboard.

•Send all printer and screen fonts used or better yet, convert to paths.

•Photoshop files should be flattened.

•Send a reduced laser or inkjet proof or email a PDF indicating layout and size.

> Sufficient Large Format Resolution

Image resolution is determined by the number of pixels in an image. To determine resolution, open your Photoshop document. Under the image menu, choose image size to show height, width and the corresponding resolution. As a rule of thumb you need at least 150 ppi at full size for quality large format. Grand format graphics (10’ wide or larger) require less resolution(75-100ppi).

Understand that resampling in Photoshop to create more resolution can cause pixelated images.
If resolution is insufficient consult an OEC imaging specialist for enlargement techniques.

> Achieving Accurate Color

Accurate color across multiple output devices is achieved through ICC color management. Each output device has a unique color space and these color spaces are defined by ICC profiles. A calibrated monitor viewing through an ICC profile is the only way to accurately soft proof.

For Lambda please provide RGB originals embedded with Adobe RGB or Colormatch RGB profiles. For any inkjet device, CMYK images with the Photoshop default setting (SWOP) work best.

For vector files, please specify a CMYK value or a Pantone value. Although all PMS colors can not be matched by all devices, OEC utilizes color software to achieve the closest possible match.

To achieve the most accurate color images, allow OEC to do the scanning for you. Please provide a color match to achieve critical color. Color can be confusing. Any questions, please consult your OEC representative.
